Welcome Back

Welcome back to the last session of grade three. I trust you all had a wonderful, relaxing break and are ready for the final stretch. It is hard to believe that the year is winding down so quickly! But there is much to do yet!
This week we started our last unit entitled: Water, A Finite Resource. This unit looks at how we share the planet with regards to water. We will investigate where our water comes from, the water cycle, how we use water and how much we use, the distribution of water on Earth and our responsibility for water conservation. The unit is off to a good start and should prove to be another interesting and engaging inquiry process for the students.

Ways We Use Water
The Students have investigated ways that we use water every day. We have looked at the many ways we use water at home, school, in our communities and around the world. The student shave created a flip-up poster to display this information.

Fractions
In maths we have been studying fractions. We have completed many exercises on identifying equivalent frations and comparing fractions. Fractions is always a difficult concept for students to grasp as it tends to be a bit abstract. However, we have been using manipulatives and doing many hands-on activities to try and make it more visual and easier to understand. We are hoping to complete the unit this week for the test on Friday, however, as we are not progressing as quickly as expected, the test may be postponed until next sometime week. If that is the case, I will send a note home explaining when the test will be.
