THANK YOU!
Dear Parents,
It has been a pleasure working with you throughout the past year. Your support to your children’s education has made my job much easier and it was greatly appreciated. It would not have been such a success without you. Thank you for investing in their futures! Thank you also for your continued support of me as your child’s teacher. Together we are stronger and this has proven to be very successful this year. To each of you, a great big THANK YOU!
I wish you and your families a well deserved summer holiday!
Best regards,
Mr. Andrews J

Dear Students,
Thank you for a wonderful year filled with many fond memories. You have each made a great impact this year and shown wonderful growth in many areas. I trust that you will take what you have learned with you into grade 4 next year. As you move on in your education, may you always think back to the time you had in grade 3 as a memorable and special time, as I will. Thank you for the memories!
I wish you all the best in the future and especially in grade 4. Have a safe, happy and enjoyable summer holiday!
I look forward to seeing you again in August! Remember, I am just next door!
All the best,
Mr. Andrews J

ANGLES
Grade 3 has been learning about angles in math. They have identified acute, obtuse and right angles, as well as locating angles in shapes. In order to assist this process, they have worked with Geo Boards and used elastics to create examples of angles and shapes with specific angles in them.

Water Filter
Experiment
Tim brought in an experiment he found in a book describing how to make a water filter. The class worked together for this and used the experiment as a model for how to conduct a science experiment and write up a science lab. There was much excitement and enthusiasm and the students made intelligent contributions to complete the experiment properly.

Water Science

We were fortunate this week to have a science lesson conducted by Ms. Zwart, Mrs. De Bondt and Mr. Chapman the MYP and DP science teachers. They set up four experiments and the students rotated through them. From these experiments they learned about water filters, water pollution and diffusion, acids and bases, surface tension and oil spills and their effect on wildlife. The students worked cooperatively with their classmates and together conducted and reflected on the experiments.  The science teachers were very impressed with their enthusiasm and the level of their many questions and comments. The students responded that it was a wonderful lesson which they really enjoyed.

Experiment 2: Diffusion and Water Pollution

On Friday, May 25th the third grade class went on a field trip to the Winterthur Kläranlage. Mr. Müller provided us with a thorough tour of the water treatment plant. We first met in the meeting room for a few questions and a discussion of the work they do. Following this, we went to the main operating room where we saw a large wall-sized diagram of the plant. Here Mr. Müller explained the process the water goes through from the time it comes into the plant until it is released back into the river Töss. The students provided him with many relevant questions which he welcomed and clearly answered. He then gave us a tour of the plant so we could see all of the parts explained first hand. The general consensus was that the trip, while very smelly at the beginning part of the tour, was very interesting and enjoyable. The students felt that they learned a great deal about the water cleaning process and now know what they can do to help. So be warned parents, they may be making you more aware of what you put in our water and how you can help. Please ask your child for a detailed explanation of the water cleaning process, I am sure they can entertain you for a while with the topic!

We would like to extend a big thank you to Mrs. Fuchs for accompanying us on this trip and providing us all with an ice-cream treat, which was much appreciated on such a nice, warm day! We appreciate you giving up your time to join us and making the trip possible. Many thanks!
Here is a photograhic journey of the trip! Enjoy!!!
