ANGLES
Grade 3 has been learning about angles in math. They have identified acute, obtuse and right angles, as well as locating angles in shapes. In order to assist this process, they have worked with Geo Boards and used elastics to create examples of angles and shapes with specific angles in them.

Water Filter
Experiment
Tim brought in an experiment he found in a book describing how to make a water filter. The class worked together for this and used the experiment as a model for how to conduct a science experiment and write up a science lab. There was much excitement and enthusiasm and the students made intelligent contributions to complete the experiment properly.

Water Science

We were fortunate this week to have a science lesson conducted by Ms. Zwart, Mrs. De Bondt and Mr. Chapman the MYP and DP science teachers. They set up four experiments and the students rotated through them. From these experiments they learned about water filters, water pollution and diffusion, acids and bases, surface tension and oil spills and their effect on wildlife. The students worked cooperatively with their classmates and together conducted and reflected on the experiments.  The science teachers were very impressed with their enthusiasm and the level of their many questions and comments. The students responded that it was a wonderful lesson which they really enjoyed.
